Electrical systems need to be monitored regularly and thoroughly. Faults and major hazards need quick action to prevent serious risk management incidents. Typical problem areas are fuse boxes, electrical panels, connections and switches.

It is the obligation of all employers under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 to ensure that the workplace is safe for employees. This is includes electrical safety. One of the most important areas of electrical safety is the regular inspection and testing of electrical appliances to ensure that they comply with the safety requirements set out in the relevant legislation and Australian standard AS/NZS 3000:2007.

Tag and Testing
Sydney Facility Service Electrical Appliance Testing specialises in the safety checking of electrical appliances to Australian Standard AS/NZS 3760, (Australian Standard AS/NZS 3760: 2010 is the relevant standard for the safety inspection and testing of electrical appliances. For the construction industry, AS/NZS 3012:2010 is the primary standard, and should be read in conjunction with AS/NZS 3760:2010). We generally find that 2.5% to 3% of all appliances that we test are not safe. Most of these faulty appliances have the potential to cause electric shock, electrocution, or electrical fire.
Are we protected if we have a Residual Current Device (RCD) “Safety Switch” installed? Quite simply. “No”. A “Safety Switch” or Residual Current Device (RCD) only protects against certain types of electrical faults. It is recommended that all workplaces and offices be fitted with RCDs, and since 2007, the Wiring Rules, AS3000:2007 requires an RCD to be installed on all new circuits which supply power points. The use of an RCD however, is no excuse for complacency when it comes to the regular inspection and testing of your electrical appliances. Does our “Safety Switch” (RCD) need regular testing?
“Yes.” Under section 165 of the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011, RCDs must be regularly tested to ensure that they will respond to a fault situation quickly enough, and before there is enough current flowing to give a person a dangerous electric shock. Sydney Facility Service Electrical Appliance Testing can test your RCDs to ensure that their trip time is within the current industry standard.
Sydney Facility Service Electrical Appliance Testing can help you to understand which appliances must be tested and tagged, and how often it is necessary to test and tag in your work environment. Testing and Tagging is a means of risk management in the workplace. WH&S legislation has made all levels of management personally liable for the safety of employees. When you use our test and tag service, we provide you with an Appliance Test Log document, which forms a part of your WH&S risk management documentation. Prevention of workplace accidents also helps to keep insurance premiums down. Failure to comply with your obligations under WH&S legislation may also mean that your insurance company is not bound to cover a claim. It is every employer’s obligation under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 to ensure that they provide a safe place of work for their employees. This includes ensuring that the risk of electric shock from portable electrical equipment and appliances is minimised. There are hefty penalties for employers and all levels of management where inadequate safety leads to the injury or death of a worker. Electrical testing and tagging forms a part of your workplace risk management system. What kind of documentation will we receive? All clients receive an Appliance Test Log which is spreadsheet of the inspection and test results for each item we test and tag. We generally issue these documents as an electronic Adobe. PDF files. We can also provide you with an Asset Register in a Microsoft Excel format file if you wish. You will also receive an itemised Tax Invoice. Sydney Facility Service Electrical Appliance Testing makes it easy for you to fulfil your appliance test and tag obligations under the WH&S Act.

We use the latest and best thermo scan imaging technology to scan electrical systems for current and potential faults providing clients with a thorough thermo graph report.
Infrared radiation is emitted by all objects based on their temperature. The amount emitted by an object increases as the temperature of the object rises allowing for the detection of variations in temperature:
A Thermographic camera is used to identify warmer to hot objects because they standout against cooler objects: In the case of electrical switchboards a thermal camera can detect hot spots that are not visible to the naked eye: (A massive 80% of electrical FAULTS are not visible) this allows problems to be detected prior to a switchboard fire and allows the site to schedule in maintenance to repair or replace the identified hazards. This technology can spot developing weak points and find problems before they occur, even in the most complex systems.

Emergency and Exit Lights
We supply, install and maintain Emergency and Exit Lights, as well as conduct testing of exit and emergency lights. These are essential safety measures in case of a fire or other disasters. In Australia, exit and emergency lights are standard in almost all modern Clas 2 to Class 9 buildings.

Safety switches
Safety switch installation is an integral part of any electrical fit out. Safety switches monitor the flow of electricity through a circuit. They automatically shut off the electricity supply when a current is detected leaking from faulty switches, wiring or electrical appliances. We can install safety switches in your office or workplace.
The switchboard is the main hub of the electrical installation. All modern switchboard installations have mandatory electrical safety switches installed. Safety switches respond when an electrical fault occurs, and could save your life. Check with our electricians to see if your switchboard needs upgrading.

For total security and convenience of communication intercom installation is essential. Communicating with your visitors via audio and video intercoms or communicate from room to room within your offices. Our electricians can install intercoms in any Sydney office.
